
Biography

Since earning her degree in set and costume design from Dramatiska Institutet in 1997,Annika has created over 90 theatre productions for theaters and institutions in Sweden and abroad.
Her work spans children’s theatre, dance, classical plays, and contemporary writing – always with a sharp eye on the present and a deep commitment to the future.
Collaborations
Annika has built a long-standing collaboration with director Dritëro Kasapi, Artistic Director
of Riksteatern (Swedish National Touring Theatre). Together, they’ve brought over 20
productions to life, including Hamlet, Othello, Pinocchio, Disgraced and Enron. Several of these have been awarded the Swedish theatre critics' prize for Best Production. With The Suppliant
Women, a co-production with Al-Harah Theatre in Palestine, they pushed the boundaries of
theatre, bridging continents and cultures.
Recognised Across Borders
Annika’s work has been selected for the Swedish Performing Arts Biennale multiple times –
including productions like Seven Methods of Killing Kylie Jenner, Fair Game, and Medea’s
Children. Her designs have toured internationally to stages in Berlin, Istanbul, and Helsinki.
In 2021, she worked with Amir Nizar Zuabi at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris
as part of the global art project The Walk with Amal and 2025 as a line producer with The Herds

Annika is more than a designer – she is a changemaker within the performing arts. From 2021 to 2026, she is in residence at Folkteatern in Gävleborg, where she has created sets and
costumes for several productions and developed sustainability strategies. With a master’s
degree in Sustainable Performing Arts from Stockholm University of the Arts and as a fellow
of Julie’s Bicycle’s Creative Climate Leadership program and as a European Climate Pact
Ambassador she merges creative expression with environmental action.
In 2025, she co-founded Hållbart Kulturliv NU (“Sustainable Culture Now”) – an
organization that brings together the Swedish arts sector to share knowledge, tools, and
methods for building a sustainable cultural future.
In recent years, Annika has begun writing for the stage. Her debut play, Bräckt Vatten
(“Brackish Water”), was performed in a staged reading at Västmanlands Teater featuring Tiffany Kronlöf. An audiodrama version was made for Dramaqueen.
2025 Annika co-wrote a play for one actor and two puppets together with Rebecca Bromberg. The play, My own room! premiered at Uusi Teatteri in Stockholm in the spring 2026 an will be performed autumn ´26 and spring ´27.
